[2025/11/10~11] We exhibited at a joint solo exhibition in Brooklyn, New York!

Hello, this is Abiru from AHORA!

This is a rather late report,
Last month, from November 10th to 11th, 2025, in Brooklyn, New York,
I also exhibited at a joint solo exhibition with 20 upcycling artists!

First overseas exhibition,
Moreover, it was a wonderful experience to be able to exhibit at a solo exhibition in Brooklyn, New York, a city I have always dreamed of visiting.

I would like to keep a record of my experiences in New York.

1. Overview of the New York joint solo exhibition

The event was hosted by Moko-chan from enne , who is involved in upcycling marine waste.
20 groups of people engaged in ocean mining activities in Japan will each express themselves through artworks using marine debris.
A joint solo exhibition was held.

I was also able to exhibit as one of the 20 groups as AHORA.
Up until now, I have mainly produced and sold works made from upcycled marine plastic.
I took on the challenge with a competitive spirit, wondering how well the work I created would be received by people overseas.

The event was held at " usagi to " in Brooklyn, New York.
"Usagito" has an art space and a cafe.
People who visited the cafe also took the opportunity to look at the art works.

The exterior and interior are very stylish, with a simple yet sophisticated design.

Then, on the previous day, November 9th, 20 groups' works will be exhibited.

The other people's work is also wonderful.

I have been making AHORA since its inception.

Marine plastic clocks are on display in a variety of colors.

Isn't this great?

After seeing the exhibit, I was moved, even though it may sound like I'm bragging, by how strong the impact was (laughs).

This is sure to resonate with New Yorkers!

Actually, there was a clock with a polka dot pattern,
We also had a stall at a Japanese market last week, where we sold out, creating an overall vibrant color atmosphere.

In the crowdfunding campaign we conducted last month, we received an application for a watch made from marine plastic as a return gift.
I was confident in the quality of the work, so I was excited to see how it would resonate with the people of New York.

2. What was the reaction of people in New York when they saw your work?

In conclusion, it was a big hit!

Rather than coming to see the art, people who happened to be passing by to visit the cafe would stop by the art space.
Many people expressed sympathy for the idea of upcycling marine debris into something beautiful.

Regarding the clocks I exhibited,
We received a lot of feedback saying, "I want to buy it!"

It's been almost two years since I started upcycling.
We hope that it will become something that people overseas will want,

At last we've come this far...

That's how it was.

At the end of the joint exhibition, a reception was held.
They explained their own works and exchanged opinions about the future of environmental issues through their works.

Many people came to the reception and it was a fun atmosphere.

It was truly a rare experience, and I am truly grateful to the organizer Moko-chan, all the artists who exhibited, and everyone who handled the administrative procedures and created the venue.

I hope to hold a solo exhibition in New York every year.
These days, he's up to some evil schemes.

That concludes our report on the New York joint solo exhibition!
